Report: 2014MY to bring AWD to Hyundai Genesis, Equus models

Friday, May 13th, 2011 @ 5:55 p.m.

Last August Leftlane reported on a confirmation by Hyundai Motor America president and CEO John Krafcik that the Genesis range and range-topping Equus sedan would be receiving all-wheel drive in “coming years.”

Unfortunately, no strict timeline was offered and many assumed that the technology would arrive for the 2012 model year refresh. Not so, says Car and Driver, who claims the Genesis Coupe and Sedan models will have to wait until the next-generation platform arrives for the 2014 model year.

It is also expected that the Equus will wait the same time before it receives all-wheel drive, although it is not quite as clear what the timeline will be for this range-topping massive luxury sedan.
