Presidential limo high-centered in Ireland [Video]

Monday, May 23rd, 2011 @ 5:44 p.m.

With a nickname like “The Beast,” you’d figure it would take more than an elevated ramp to stop the Presidential limousine. However, that was just the case earlier today as President Obama tried to enter Ireland.

The President was in Ireland this morning to pledge America’s support to peace-makers in the northern part of the country, but his visit got off to a rocky start when his limo got stuck on a ramp leaving the U.S. embassy in Dublin.

President Obama and his wife were reportedly riding in the belly of The Beast when the event occurred, but were quickly whisked away to an awaiting vehicle.

The news of the Presidential limo getting hung up on an exit ramp is quite surprising – especially considering the rig is said to be based on a heavy-duty truck platform – but it’s not the first time an American President has been left stranded by a stretched Cadillac on foreign soil. President George W. Bush was forced to find a new ride when his limousine broke down in front of an Italian crowd in 2007.

Videos of both incidents are posted below.
