Thor may be blowing up at the box office, but this afternoon, the movie was also responsible for a full evacuation of parts of downtown Ann Arbor.
A press kit sent out by Acura as a tie-in with its promotion of the movie ended up in a recycling bin via our pals at Automobile magazine, and was spotted in the bin. The sighting triggered a bomb-threat alert in the town, home to the University of Michigan--and also to a Federal building across the street from the magazine's home office.
According to deputy editor Joe DeMatio's postings on Facebook, police and helicopters spent a few hours circling the block while pedestrians and workers were ushered away.
DeMatio also nailed pretty much how we feel about the whole promotion, aside from the cool intervention of FBI teams:
"Thor…is that a movie?"
