Although the Chinese market has only had access to BMW’s high-performance M3 for the last handful of years, the automaker will celebrate the sports car’s 25th anniversary in high style in the rapidly-growing market with a special M3 Matte Edition.
As its name implies, the Matte Edition features a flat black paint scheme from the BMW ColorSystem. BMW says that it can only make a handful of matte-painted cars a day because of the difficulty producing the paint scheme, so production for China will be limited.
Red brake calipers surrounded by high-gloss black or regular silver 19-inch alloy wheels complete the exterior transformation.
The M3 Matte Edition also gains black carbon fiber-style leather trim, red interior stitching and a few other interior goodies.
The standard M3 420 horsepower V8 remains, as does its seven-speed dual clutch transmission
BMW hasn’t said when the special edition M3 will hit dealership lots in China.
