Continuing its onslaught of refreshed 300 models debuting at the 2011 New York International Auto Show, Chrysler has now revealed the second vehicle ever in its lineup to bear the “S” designation, following the 200 S.
Chrysler’s new 300S is aimed at buyers who are “younger, more urban-centric…[and] want world-class sophistication combined with athletic-luxury and a more aggressive look,” according to the Auburn Hills automaker. What that translates into in terms of changes from the standard 300 sedan are bigger wheels, a different suspension and a unique interior with an extra dose of “style.”
The standard wheels are 20-inches, made of aluminum, and feature black painted pockets – a look popular with younger buyers and often achieved in the aftermarket. Also changed is a sport-tuned suspension, an upgraded sound system, black exterior accents (also usually achieved in the aftermarket) and either a monotone black or black with exclusive (to the model) Radar Red interior.

The 300S is available with either V6 (292 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar) or V8 (363 horsepower 5.7-liter Hemi) powertrains, and as Chrysler promises, features no chrome or wood accents inside that may accidentally appeal to “older” buyers. Should buyers decide they want the added benefits of all-wheel drive, Chrysler will gladly oblige, but wheels are swapped out for 19-inch polished face aluminum, and wrapped in P235/55R19 tires.
Stay tuned for availability and pricing.
